YARN RESTOCK

Juniper Moon Cumulus

This blend of 94% mako cotton/6% nylon is as soft as a kitten. The long staple length of Mako makes it the highest quality of fiber. Cumulus is a great choice for sweaters and blankets.

Hank has sprung forward with new knitting projects and yarn

It's been a busy winter, but Hank continues to stock the shelves.
Here's what we're working on to give you some ideas.

Sommerknus

Wanderlust Yoke Top

Coastland

Here is a great addition to your summer wardrobe. This is a top down knit with enough interest to keep you engaged throughout. There are 3 sleeve options so pick what works best for you. Choose a worsted weight yarn, or strand 2 together to get the correct gauge.

This detailed pattern is good for a beginner but no reason an experienced knitter can't join in the fun. There is information on knitting 2-color stripes of varying widths while working this top down sweater. Designed for &Make DK or similar weight yarn of your choice.

Elizabeth Smith is one of our favorite designers. This textured eyelet slip stitch sweater features a pop of contrasting color. Layer this over a tank or camisole. Choose a DK weight yarn in a couple of fun colors for your own unique look.

McMullin Fiber Yarns are always a good choice

Posh Sock Suri Silk Posh DK
You will love this fingering weight yarn that is a blend of 80% merino, 10% nylon and 10% cashmere. It will feel great whatever the end product. Good for socks, accessories and sweaters. For those of you that don't like the feel of mohair, this yarn is the perfect option. The blend of 74% alpaca and 26% silk is a softer blend when you want to add just a bit of fluff to a project.

This is the heavier sibling to Posh Sock. For those who want a bit more luxury in your yarn this merino, nylon, cashmere blend is the answer.

Instant Crush Elton Yokelore Sweater

This colorwork sweater is knit holding 2 strands of Suri/Silk together. The resulting sweater will keep you warm, but the fabric is light as air!

Upgrade a basic cardigan with a mix of stripes and textures. The silhouette is slightly boxy and slightly cropped in length. Use posh sock and suri/silk to create stripes of alternating texture. Knit this sweater in the round from the top down using yoke sweater construction techniques. Five different colors create a quilt like look. Pick from Posh DK colors to create your own unique look.

Bennet Sister Shawl Coofle

Using both a fingering and a fluffy yarn makes a shawl you will love to wrap up in. The long triangle shape is knit end to end using simple stitches to create graphic shapes and lines.

Here is the perfect chance to show off your creativity. Choose a base color of Posh Sock and then select from the 12 different mini skein options for your colorwork.

Cooler weather means knitting season is in full swing. Hank has several ways to help get you going.
If you are stuck looking for pattern ideas, just ask. We never seem to be at a loss for ideas.
Want to try a new yarn, we can help with that.

Remember that you can always drop in for help once you purchase your materials from Hank.
Tuesdays are a good "drop in" day, but help is always available.

If just looking for some community, our round table is open as well.

For the Impatient Knitter in You

Clare has decided to revisit a classic knit. The Einstein Coat by Sally Melville
is perfect for the impatient knitter. A good starter project, this is an interestingly constructed coat with a minimum of finishing. Ask to see Laurie's book for more information, the pattern itself is available on Ravelry.

Meet our New Crochet Instructors

Laurie met Georgina at Findley Market, and Marie called us at the right time.
We are excited to have 2 experienced crocheters at Hank to further your fiber knowledge.

Rectangle Project by Quince

Pam Allen has designed a collection of patterns designed to "demystify" the knitting process.
All are based on the concept of knitting a simple rectangle.
Coupled with bulky yarn, you will be done before you know it.

Laurie is wearing Rectangle No. 7. The collection includes cardigans, pullovers and accessories.

We have images of the patterns for your inspection.

Bulky Yarns for Quick Knitting

&Make Dash Puffin
&Make is a super bulky single ply yarn which works up at a satisfying speed. Dash is a fluffy chainette yarn that is both soft and light. Dashes of color throughout make this bulky weight yarn full of squishy soft fun. Puffin is a single ply yarn from sturdy American fleece. The yarn gives garments a soft halo, perfect for wear-all-the-time sweaters.

New Yarn from Berroco

BALLENTINE MISTICO
A beautiful geometric lace motif lines the yoke of this knitted pullover. Ballentine is worked in one piece from the top down. This new yarn from Berroco is made up of brushed alpaca that gives a halo to the cotton/wool/nylon core. The result is luxuriously soft yarn with added flecks of color.

An Oldie that has been Updated

EINSTEIN COAT QUARRY
This coat requires only the knit stitch done in several directions yielding an elegant result. No purling required! Also comes in children's sizes. An old favorite from Brooklyn Tweed, this plump chunky weight yarn has handcrafted appeal. It's neutral color palette makes it a versatile piece for your wardrobe.
